Lobby Day June 22

Our Voter-Owned Elections Lobby Day is just in three weeks! Common Cause is bringing in Lawrence Lessig as part of their Congressional FENA work on June 22 and 23, and they have generously offered to let him speak at our Lobby Day. Please see the attached flier.

The League cosponsors debates with NBC17

The League cosponsored a US Senatorial Democratic Primary Debate with NBC17. We are continuing our efforts with 3 run-off debates and a series of general election debates in August through October.

NBC17 is producing, with the LWVNC and the help of local Leagues, a number of televised candidate debates this year. We produced a live US Senatorial Democratic primary race debate on April 14 from 7:30-9:00 pm with 5 candidates. This was also available statewide on TV and on the web.

Coming up are:

  • Runoff debate for the Democratic US Senate primary race on Tuesday, June 15 (live and available statewide) from 7-8 pm with Cunningham and Marshall going head-to-head

  • Runoff debate for US House District 13 Republican primary race on Tuesday, June 1 from 8-9 pm with Randall and Reeves debating

  • CANCELLED - Runoff debate for US House District 8 Republican primary race on Tuesday, June 8 from 8-9 pm with D’Annunzio and Johnson debating. Read the June 1st Press Release

Get Answers! The candidates will answer questions submitted by NC residents. Please share this information widely with your League membership and others in your communities. If you live in House District 13 or 8, we especially would like questions from your local constituents for your candidates. Voters can send their questions for the candidates to myvote@wncn.com, and should include their first and last name along with their city/county of residence.

  • US House District 13 - The deadline for questions is noon on Thursday, May 27
  • US Senate Runoff - The deadline for questions is noon on Friday, June 11

Check back soon for information about general election debates during the Fall!
